Christian baptism is the means by which a person makes a public proclamation of faith and discipleship. In the waters of baptism, a person says without words: "I confess my faith in Christ; Jesus has cleansed my soul from sin, and now I have a new life of sanctification."
In Christian baptism, the action of being immersed in the water represents being killed to sin, and the action of coming out of the water represents the clean and holy life that follows salvation. Romans 6:4
